Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Unemployment Insurance Benefits.

asked the Minister for Social Welfare if he will state (i) the number of applications received, to the nearest date, for unemployment insurance benefit as a result of the reciprocal arrangements made with Great Britain, and (ii) the number qualified for such benefit at the Dungloe and Dunfanaghy employment exchanges.

In the period from the 6th April, 1949, to the 8th July, 1949, inclusive, the number of applications for a transfer of British contributions made under the reciprocal arrangements for unemployment benefit with Great Britain by claimants to unemployment benefit was 7,415.

The numbers of cases in which up to the 8th July, 1949, British contributions have been transferred in respect of persons who made application for such transfers at the Dungloe and Dunfanaghy local offices are 197 and 46, respectively.
