Vol. 117 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Mental Hospital Attendants' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Health whether it is his intention to introduce proposals for legislation to enable mental hospital committees of management to grant pension increases to mental hospital attendants who retired prior to 1940.

As indicated in my reply to a similar question on the 5th instant, any proposal for reviewing the pensions of officers and servants of mental hospital authorities who retired before the 1st July, 1940, must be examined in relation to the adjustment of pensions of superannuated officers and servants of public authorities both central and local as a whole. The matter is still under active consideration and it is expected that an announcement can be made in the near future.
