Vol. 117 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Importation of Ammunition.

asked the Minister for Justice whether it is intended to allow the importation of quantities of .22 ammunition to meet the needs of licence holders; and, if so, whether an official announcement will be made at the earliest possible date so as to enable licence holders of minuature rifle licences to have their licence renewed.

Licences to import .22 ammunition are issued freely to registered firearm dealers and to the holders of the appropriate firearm certificates.

Can the Minister say why the holders of licences have been unable to procure ammunition for some months past?

They have the licences, but what more can I do?

The fact is that they cannot get the stuff.
