Vol. 118 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Entry of Northern Ireland Taxis.

asked the Minister for Finance whether representations were made to the Revenue Commissioners and the Government by a firm of auditors and accountants on behalf of taxi owners resident in Northern Ireland, with regard to the entry all the year round, duty free, of taxis from Northern Ireland to this State; and, if so, whether the result of the representations was communicated to the firm.

Representations of the kind referred to by the Deputy were made to the Revenue Commissioners in October, 1947, and subsequently, and to me in August, 1948. The concession sought, which had been under consideration prior to the representations in question, was granted with effect from 1st November, 1948, and the firm which made the representations was so informed by the Revenue Commissioners on the 22nd October, 1948.
