Vol. 118 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - West Kerry Electrification.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that the Electricity Supply Board carried out a survey of the parish of Ballyheigue, Tralee, County Kerry, recently, and if so, whether he will state when the board will extend the rural electrification scheme to this parish.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that the Ballyheigue, Tralee, County Kerry, area, as well as a number of other areas, are being examined at present. It is anticipated that an area in the Tralee district will be selected by the board in the near future for development under the rural electrification scheme. It is not possible at this stage to say what area will be selected.

Does the Minister agree that this patchwork system for installing rural electrification is desirable and could not be improved?

I am being guided by people who know a lot more about it than either the Deputy or myself.
