Vol. 118 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Priority.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, when extending the telephone system to all suboffices, he will give priority to districts which are far removed from the residences of clergy and doctors.

The call office scheme involves the installation of telephones in some 800 post offices, mostly in remote places. In order that the best progress may be made, it will be necessary that the order in which call offices will be installed should be settled mainly on engineering grounds.

For this reason, I regret that the Deputy's suggestion cannot be adopted.
