Vol. 118 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Civil Service Pensions.

asked the Minister for Finance whether, during the period 1932 to 1948, civil servants who retired had periods of unestablished service up to seven years added to their established service for the purpose of pension; and, if so, whether he will state when and why this practice was altered.

It is the case that a number of civil servants who retired during the period mentioned by the Deputy were allowed to reckon previous unestablished service for pension purposes to the extent permitted by the superannuation practice obtaining since 1922. The practice has not been altered since 1948.
