Vol. 118 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Forestry Lands.

asked the Minister for Lands whether he is aware that efforts are being made to dispose, by private treaty, of land at Lickeen, Glencar, County Kerry, which his Department scheduled for compulsory acquisition for the purpose of an afforestation scheme; and, if so, whether he will take steps to acquire these lands at the earliest possible date.

Steps have been taken for the acquisition of these lands for afforestation purposes, and I am not aware of any efforts to sell them privately.

If we can submit information to the Minister that there is an intending purchaser and can satisfy him that there is a danger in that direction, will he take steps to adhere to his policy, and see that these people will not be allowed to intervene, now that notice has been given for the acquisition of these lands for forestry purposes?
