Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Imports from Dollar Area.

asked the Taoiseach if he will state (a) the total value of current consumption goods, raw materials, and semi-manufactured materials, excluding all capital goods, machinery, etc., imported from the dollar area in the last available 12-month period, and (b) the value of dollar earnings, even provisionally or approximately estimated, under all heads for the same period or for the last 12 months for which figures are available.

(a) The total value of imports, other than capital goods, from the dollar area in the 12 months ended 31st December, 1948, was £13.8 million.

(b) The total of all dollar earnings brought to credit through the Irish banking system during the 12 months ended 31st October, 1949, was $30.7 million.
