Vol. 118 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Clonbullogue Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state (a) the reason for the delay in carrying out a housing scheme in Clonbullogue, County Offaly, and (b) when it is proposed to proceed with such scheme.

The delay in carrying out the proposed housing scheme at Clonbulloge is due to the fact that the site is included in the Offaly County Health District Labourers Order, 1947 (Part III), against which an appeal to the High Court has been made. The official arbitrator has been appointed but pending the result of the appeal, which is listed for hearing this month, arbitration cannot be proceeded with. In the meantime plans for a scheme of 14 houses have been prepared and submitted for approval.

The Minister replied to a similar question in regard to this matter, raised by me on a number of occasions here. I should like to know whether any progress has been made with regard to that part of this scheme which is not covered by the High Court case?

Pending the result of the appeal, nothing can be done.

I would point out to the Minister that part of this scheme is not concerned with the High Court proceedings. The Minister assured me previously that that part of the scheme would go ahead. I want to know now whether any progress has since been made in that regard.

Plans have been prepared, and submitted for approval, in regard to 14 houses, but we are awaiting the result of the appeal to the High Court.

Deputy O'Higgins is pointing out a case that does not refer to the appeal at all.

I have said in my reply that plans for a scheme of 14 houses have been prepared and submitted for approval. All that is covered are the 14 houses.

The Minister has not all the information.
