Vol. 118 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tapping of Telephone Lines.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state whether members of the Garda Síochána are permitted to tap telephone lines, or otherwise to listen in and record private telephone conversations; and, if so, whether he will state the circumstances in which they are permitted to do so.

The answer to the first part of the Deputy's question is "No"; the second part accordingly does not arise.
