Vol. 118 No. 13

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Ban on Export of Irish Periodicals.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he can now state what progress has been made in the efforts to secure the lifting of the prohibition placed by the British Government on the export of Irish periodicals to the United Kingdom.

Licences are granted by the British authorities for the importation of Irish periodicals published prior to August, 1946, but are limited to the rate of import in the period immediately preceding that date. The importation from any source of periodicals published for the first time subsequent to August, 1946, is not permitted. Representations made to the British authorities for a modification of the restrictions have not yet met with any success.
