Vol. 118 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Enniskeane-Bandon Telephone Facilities.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will consider providing a direct telephone line from Enniskeane to Bandon, County Cork.

The provision of a direct line between Enniskeane and Bandon is not warranted by the number of calls made. Calls to and from Enniskeane call office are switched at Ballineen, and this arrangement best serves the interests of subscribers generally in the area.

Considering the delays and inconvenience caused to the people of Enniskeane in getting phone calls through the present system, I would like the Parliamentary Secretary to have representations made to the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs. The present system of getting calls through Ballineen is subject to considerable delay and inconvenience, and perhaps the Minister could have a check made on the delay?

I will do what the Deputy suggests.
