Vol. 118 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Sites for Cement Factories.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if, when considering the erection of additional cement factories, he will consider the claims of Raffeen, Monkstown, County Cork, as a centre for the manufacture of cement.

As I have indicated in reply to previous questions regarding the additional manufacture of cement, every relevant factor, including that of location, will be taken into the fullest possible consideration.

In view of the fact that the present cement company is so far behind in the matter of supplying cement, will this matter be dealt with as expeditiously as possible?

That is a separate question. As the Deputy is aware, the cement company has already increased production considerably and the question of an additional unit is at present under consideration.
