Vol. 118 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reopening Clare Lead Mines.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state what steps he proposes taking with a view to having the lead and silver mines near Quin, County Clare, which once gave a yield of 90 per cent. pure lead, reopened.

I do not propose to take any steps to reopen the lead and silver mines at Quin, County Clare. I am advised that most of the minerals in these mines have already been extracted and that those which remain could not be worked on a commercial basis.
