Vol. 118 No. 16

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Oil and Petrol.

Major de Valera

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether, in view of the recent statement of the British Chancellor of the Exchequer relating to rationing and expenditure on oil and petrol, he anticipates any further restrictions on the sale and consumption of petrol and oil in this country during the next six months; and whether he will make a statement on the matter before the next car taxing period.

I do not anticipate that it will be necessary to impose any further restrictions on the sale or consumption of petrol and oil in this country during the next six months. The supply position will continue to be kept under close review.
