Vol. 119 No. 7

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Cottages.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will indicate what progress has been made towards the erection of labourers' cottages in County Kerry.

The Kerry County Council have 24 labourers' cottages in course of construction at the moment and tenders have been invited for a further 52 cottages. In addition plans for a number of grouped cottage schemes and for the erection of certain single cottages have been approved and I understand that plans for other grouped and single sites are being prepared.

Approval was issued recently for the acquisition of sites for 260 cottages and I understand that proposals are being prepared for the acquisition of a further substantial number of sites.

The council should, therefore, be in a position to expand its housing operations appreciably in the current year.
