Vol. 119 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state when the Land Commission propose to divide the Rockville estate, County Roscommon, for the relief of congestion.

It is not possible to state when these lands will be divided, but there will be no avoidable delay in the matter.

Is the Minister aware that acute congestion exists in this locality; that there is a large number of smallholders in it whose valuation only averages about £6 and that some of them have very bad houses? Will he consider asking the Land Commission to speed up the division of this land if he hopes that the land reclamation or rehabilitation scheme of the Minister for Agriculture is going to prove successful?
