Vol. 119 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Smyth Estate (County Limerick)

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission are at present preparing a scheme for the division of the Smyth estate, Craggs, County Limerick; and, if so, whether it is intended to ask the Minister for Agriculture to have work under the land rehabilitation project carried out on this land before it is allotted to suitable applicants.

A scheme for the allotment of this estate has not been approved but there will be no avoidable delay in the matter. It is not intended to ask the Minister for Agriculture to carry out any work on the land before allotment.

Will the Minister say if he has considered any scheme under the land rehabilitation project in connection with this estate that is to be divided?

No. There is nothing to stop the allottees from having a land reclamation scheme put into operation on the land when they get it.
