Vol. 120 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kells Brewery.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce whether he is aware that the bank overdraft incurred by a Kells brewery, as a result of which it was feared the brewery would have to close down, was as a result of the extension of the industry, and not because of a trading deficit, and whether in view of this fact, he will now, in accordance with the stated policy of the Government with reference to the expansion of industry, take all the necessary steps to protect the brewery and the employment of the workers concerned.

I have already explored, with all the interested parties, every means within my power that might be calculated to protect the interests of this brewery and its workers, and there is no further helpful action that I can take.
