Vol. 120 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Laoighis Housing Subsidies.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the total amount to be charged to rates in County Laoighis during the coming financial year for the purpose of (i) subsidising rents and (ii) meeting central fund charges due for houses which are not yet erected, and whether the county manager is obliged to make such provision in the estimates for the coming year.

I am informed by the county manager that the amounts included in the estimates for 1950-51 under the headings indicated by the Deputy are (1) £3,250 and (2) £4,250.

Under Section 22 of the County Management Act, 1940, every county manager is required to cause to be prepared an estimate showing the amounts which in his opinion will be necessary to meet the expenses and provide for the liabilities and requirements of the council for the county during each local financial year.
