Vol. 120 No. 2

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take the business as set out on the Order Paper in the following order: Items Nos. 7, 15 and 2 (Votes 56 and 57, Defence Estimates). It is proposed to interrupt No. 7 from 6 o'clock to 7.30 o'clock in order to take No. 15. The debate on No. 7 will be resumed not later than 7.30 o'clock. It is also proposed that Government business be not interrupted for the purpose of taking Private Deputies' business.

Is there any likelihood of the Defence Estimates being reached to-day?

I cannot control the loquacious powers of members of this Chamber and, accordingly, I cannot answer the Deputy's question.

Will the Taoiseach say when we are likely to adjourn for the Easter Recess?

From to-morrow night for, I would expect, a fortnight —the week before Easter and the week after, meeting on next Tuesday fortnight.

If the Committee Stage of No. 7 is concluded, we could go on to the Defence Estimates.

I think it is very unlikely.

I am inclined to agree with the Deputy, but perhaps not.

The Defence Estimates could be reached. I do not think the Deputy should be so pessimistic.

They could be. On the Adjournment this evening we will take Question No. 38—Deputy Boland.
