Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Land Acquisition and Division.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission have acquired, or propose to acquire, the lands of Mr. Francis Rouse, Lacken, Kilglass, County Sligo, for the purpose of relieving congestion in this area.

Proceedings have been instituted for the resumption of these lands.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state why Mr. Michael Donagher, Cloughmine, Kilmactranny, Boyle, County Sligo, and Mr. James Harte, Highwood, Kilmactranny, County Sligo, did not receive an allocation of land on the McLoughlin estate, Highwood, County Sligo, which was recently divided by the Land Commission.

The Land Commission are the statutory authority for deciding to whom land should be allotted and they are not obliged to give reasons for their decisions.

The claims of the two applicants in question were fully considered.
