Vol. 120 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Tipperary Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that, although the ten new houses now being built in Cappawhite, County Tipperary, by the local authority are almost ready for connection with the piped water supply, connection is not practicable because work has not yet begun on the Cappawhite sewerage scheme which was approved by the local authority and by the Department of Local Government several years ago; and, if so, whether he will state the reason for the delay in starting work on the sewerage scheme and when work is likely to be begun.

I understand that the new houses will be connected with the water supply but temporary sanitation arrangements will have to be made pending completion of the sewerage scheme. The sewerage scheme has been approved in principle but the contract documents cannot be completed until the most suitable type of treatment works can be determined. It is hoped to have this matter decided shortly. It is not possible to say at this stage when work is likely to begin.
