Vol. 120 No. 5

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kerry Creameries.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware of the urgent necessity for creamery stops at Cromane, Caragh Lake, and Glencutane, County Kerry; and, if so, whether he will sanction the purchase of a new portable creamery for the special purpose of catering for the farmers of these areas.

I have been informed by the Dairy Disposal Company that, having regard to the relatively small quantity of milk likely to be available, it would not be practicable to provide a new travelling creamery to cover the districts of Cromane, Caragh Lake and Glencutane. The only solution would seem to be for the farmers concerned to arrange amongst themselves for the conveyance of their combined milk supplies to the nearest cream-separating station or travelling creamery stop.
