Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Kerry Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware of the urgent need for a housing scheme in the Kenmare district and whether he has received proposals from the Kerry County Council in the matter.

I am aware of the urgent need for a housing scheme in the Kenmare district and I have received a proposal from the Kerry County Council for the compulsory acquisition of a site on which it is proposed to erect 20 cottages. The period fixed for the lodgment of objections to the council's proposal expired on the 17th April, 1950, and arrangements have been made for the holding of a public local inquiry in the matter. The inquiry will be held at the Courthouse, Kenmare, on Tuesday, the 16th May, 1950.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that the Kerry County Council forwarded a group scheme for Killorglin together with reports and a lay-out plan for the erection of 32 houses; and whether he will sanction the carrying through of the scheme at the earliest possible date.

A proposal to acquire a site at Killorglin together with a layout plan for a scheme of 32 houses was received from the Kerry County Council on the 19th of this month. The proposal is being examined and a decision in the matter will be conveyed to the Council at an early date.
