Vol. 120 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - F.C.A. Officers' Mileage Allowance.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he proposes to increase the rate of mileage allowance payable to F.C.A. officers who use their own cars on F.C.A. duty; and, if so, when and by what amount, and if the increase will be retrospective so as to reimburse F.C.A. officers for losses sustained by them as a result of the inadequacy of the present allowance.

The necessary amendment to Defence Force Regulations providing for the payment of increased mileage allowances to officers of An Fórsa Cosanta Aitiúil who are authorised to use their own cars on official business will be promulgated at an early date. The amounts of the increased allowances will vary in relation to the horse-power of the cars used and will have effect from the 1st July, 1947.
