The total number of agricultural holdings in the country on the 1st June, 1948, the latest date for which figures are available, was 380,147. The estimated number of these holdings whose poor law valuation (a) exceeded £50 but did not exceed £100, and (b) exceeded £100 was 21,100 and 11,300, respectively.
