Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Telephone Capital Loan.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if he will state (i) the amount expended from the telephone capital loan account in 1948-49, 1949-50; (ii) the amount still unexpended of the £6,000,000 loan, and (iii) how much he proposes to expend from this fund in the year 1950-51.

(i) The sums drawn under the Telephone Capital Act, 1946, during the financial years 1948-49 and 1949-50 were respectively £1,225,000 and £1,250,000; (ii) the balance remaining of the sum of £6,000,000 authorised under the Telephone Capital Act, 1946, as at 31st March, 1950, was £2,970,000; (iii) it is estimated that £2,250,000 will be spent on telephone capital works in the year 1950-51.
