Vol. 120 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Creamery Provision.

asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state the reason for the delay in having a creamery built at Doon, Ballybunion, County Kerry.

I am informed by the Dairy Disposal Company, Limited, that the delay in the establishment of a cream-separating station at Doon, Ballybunion, County Kerry, is due to the difficulty experienced by the company in obtaining an adequate water supply at the site selected. Pending further efforts to obtain water the company proposes to provide for the needs of the farmers in this area during the present season by putting a travelling creamery into operation in the district at an early date.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether he is aware that milk suppliers who are resident at Coolard, Kilgarvan, Gunsboro' and other townlands in the postal district of Lisselton, County Kerry, have to take their milk for delivery at creameries three and four miles distant; that these milk suppliers sent a memorial to the Dairy Disposals Board some months ago for the building of a creamery at Coolard, Lisselton; and, if so, whether he will state if the matter has been considered by the board; and, if so, with what result.

I am informed by the Dairy Disposals Company, Limited, that a travelling creamery will be made available at an early date to meet the needs of the farmers in the areas mentioned by the Deputy.

Will the Parliamentary Secretary say how soon it is expected that that will be done?

In the near future.

What does that mean— a month or six weeks?

It means something now.
