Vol. 120 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Reenard Point Pier.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state the present position with regard to the proposed improvement and extension of the Reenard Point Pier, Cahirciveen, and when the final arrangements are likely to be completed so that the scheme may be put into operation.

The method by which the proposed works at Reenard Point Pier might be financed, and the arrangements to be made for future maintenance, are still under consideration. I am unable to say at present when these matters will be decided.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that on a few occasions recently statements were made by spokesmen of Fianna Fáil in the Cahirciveen area that this work was sanctioned before the last Government left office? Is there any truth in that?

I am aware that such statements were made, and I want to say that they are definitely incorrect.
