Vol. 120 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Repair of County Offaly Bog Road.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state whether his Department have received an application for a supplementary grant to enable the Galross bog road repair work on the Ross estate, near Birr, County Offaly, to be completed in a satisfactory manner, and if he will now sanction the allocation of the small sum required for this purpose.

There are several different roads in Galross bog for which grants have been made by the Special Employment Schemes Office. I am not able to say to which of these the Deputy refers, but if he will give me further particulars I shall have inquiries made.

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that particulars have already been furnished by the county manager directly to the Department? Is he further aware that the amount required to complete the job in a satisfactory way will not exceed £50, and will he, in the case of future allocations of this kind, especially in view of the fact that there is supposed to be plenty of money available for such work, allocate whatever sum will be reasonably required to get jobs finished in a satisfactory way once and for all?

Say £1,000,000 out of the £107,000,000?

Do not you mind.

As I told the Deputy in my reply, we cannot find out exactly what road he is referring to. If the Deputy gives me further information I will have inquiries made.

Why not ask Deputy Flanagan?

Is the Parliamentary Secretary aware that there is only one Galross road on the Rosse estate?

My information is that there are several different roads into the Galross bog.
