Vol. 120 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Limerick Water and Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether any proposals have been submitted to his Department from the Limerick County Council for a water and sewerage scheme for Ardagh village; and, if so, if he will undertake to have the execution of the scheme regarded as a matter of special urgency by all concerned.

A scheme for a water supply in Ardagh was submitted in November last and provisionally approved in January. The estimated cost of the scheme in relation to the small number of connections expected was exceptionally high and it was accordingly suggested to the local authority that they might examine the possibility of framing a less costly scheme. I have not had any reply from the local authority to this recommendation.

Consideration of the proposal will be expedited as much as possible, on receipt of the local authority's decision on the Department's suggestion.

No proposals have been furnished with regard to a sewerage scheme for this village.
