Vol. 121 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Costello, County Galway, Water Supply.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the present position regarding the proposed Costello, County Galway, regional water supply scheme.

The scheme for a regional water supply in the Costello-Rossaveal area was approved in August, 1947, but the county council deferred the invitation of tenders because of the possibility that water rights might be interfered with. The scheme was subsequently amended by the local authority to meet objections raised by fishery interests. The Department's suggestions in regard to technical aspects of the proposed alterations were conveyed to the county council in September, 1948, for consideration and report by the consulting engineer. No further communication has been received from the county council in the matter.
