Vol. 121 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Dublin Housing.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that 30 more houses are needed in Palmerston, and if he will state when these houses will be provided and how many sites have been acquired for this purpose.

I understand that there are still a number of applicants for houses in the Palmerston area and that the Dublin County Council are negotiating for the purchase of two sites in that area which, if acquired, will accommodate approximately 30 houses. I am not in a position to state at this stage when these houses will be provided.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that another 20 houses are required at Santry, and if he will state how many sites have been acquired, and how many additional houses will be built in the area.

I understand that a survey of the housing needs of County Dublin is at present in progress and that if the result indicates that additional houses are required at Santry the council will acquire the necessary sites for same.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state when the Portmarnock housing scheme will commence.

A site has been acquired and plans and specification have been prepared. The council are, I understand, at the moment negotiating with regard to the provision of an additional access road to the site. When this matter has been settled, there should be no further delay in starting the building operations.
