Vol. 121 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Housing Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of delay in carrying out the present housing scheme at Knocknagree, County Cork.

asked the Minister for Local Government if he will state the cause of the delay in starting work on the new housing schemes at Meelin, Millstreet, Ballydesmond, Kiskeam and Rockchapel, County Cork.

I propose, with the permission of the Leas-Cheann Comhairle, to reply to Questions Nos. 46 and 47 together.

A compulsory purchase Order covering all the sites referred to with the exception of Ballydesmond was confirmed by me on the 3rd instant. The Order involved a considerable degree of examination and negotiation of which, I think, the Deputy is aware, but there was no avoidable delay in dealing with it.

With regard to Ballydesmond, a new compulsory purchase Order has been submitted by the council and the question of a local inquiry is under consideration.

No lay-out plans have yet been submitted for approval for any of the schemes in question, with the exception of Millstreet, for which a lay-out was approved on the 6th of last month. The proposed house designs for rural cottages and non-municipal schemes in the North Cork area were discussed with the council's architect and submission of revised plans is awaited.
