Vol. 121 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Connaught Rangers' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Defence if he will state whether he has received representations from the committee of the Connaught Rangers in regard to the inadequacy of their pensions as provided for in the Connaught Rangers (Pensions) Acts, 1936 and 1948; and whether he will introduce proposals for legislation to amend the law to provide for increased pensions and to bring within its scope the cases of men suffering from disabilities arising out of or attributable to their services to the Irish nation through the mutiny, and also to make provision for the widows of mutineers.

Certain representations have been made to me in this matter. I do not propose, however, to introduce legislation on the lines suggested by the Deputy.
