Vol. 121 No. 5

Ceisteanna — Questions. Oral Answers. - County Cork Housing Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that sites for agricultural labourers' cottages were marked in the districts of Watergrasshill, Bartlemy, Castlelyons, Conna, Ballynoe, Rathcormac and Curraglass over 18 months ago and that the compulsory purchase Order has not yet been issued in respect of the scheme; and, if so, if he will state the reasons for delay and when approximately building work will commence.

The sites to which the Deputy refers were included in the Cork County Council (North) Compulsory Purchase (Labourers Acts) Order, 1949. An Order confirming the acquisition of the Watergrasshill, Bartlemy, Castlelyons, Ballynoe, Rathcormac and Curraglass sites was issued to the council on 13th January, 1950. The Conna site was excluded from the council's Order on the ground of hardship.

As regards the commencement of building, the submission of layout and house plans by the local authority is awaited.
