Vol. 121 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Estate Tenant's Allotment of Land.

asked the Minister for Lands if he will state whether the Land Commission received representations respecting an allotment of land on the Sampson estate at Whitegate, County Clare, for Mr. Joseph Dunlea, a tenant on the estate, and if he will indicate what considerations induced the Land Commission to reject these representations whilst considering favourably other applications which were not nearly as well grounded.

The answer to the first part of the question is "yes." The Land Commission had regard to the relative merits of Mr. Dunlea's case and the cases of the successful applicants for land on the estate and decided not to allot a parcel to Mr. Dunlea. Mr. Dunlea is not a tenant on the estate. He is a cottier and is employed by the county council.
