asked the Minister for Agriculture if he will state for each of the last ten years the quantity of potatoes allowed out of the black-scab area, the destination of these potatoes for the years in question, whether a special permit or licence was required in every case; and, if so, how many such permits and licences have been issued in 1948, 1949 and 1950, and whether these permits or licences were available to the producers or potato merchants in the areas concerned.

The destination in all cases of movement was Great Britain with the exception of 200 tons sent to the Lebanon in 1948-49 and seven tons to Dublin in 1949-50.
The removal of the potatoes from the scheduled area was in every case authorised by licence. The numbers of such licences issued were:—
