Vol. 121 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Election of Lord Mayor.

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that, although he stated that he was advised that the Dublin Corporation had no power to elect a lord mayor on the 26th June for the ensuring year, no action has so far been taken by the corporation to alter their statutory regulations regarding this election; and, if so, whether he proposes taking any action in the matter by order or otherwise.

The law relating to the date of the mayoral election in the present year is not affected by the standing orders of the Dublin City Council. I should like to point out that I have taken no action in this matter except to state, at the Deputy's request, what I was advised to be the law and I do not consider myself required to take any action in the matter.
