Vol. 121 No. 9

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Transport of Cork School children.

asked the Minister for Education if he is prepared to provide transport for children attending Coolmohan National School, Araglen, Kilworth, County Cork, in view of the fact that a large number have to travel over five miles to attend there.

I presume the Deputy refers to Araglin National School which serves the Coolmohan area of County Cork. I have received no representations in regard to the question of providing a transport service for pupils attending this school and in the absence of particulars of children who, it is stated, have to travel a considerable distance to Araglin School, I am not in a position to say whether State aid could be granted, under the regulations, towards the cost of a transport service.

On receipt of an application from the manager or from the interested local parties giving the names and ages of the children and the distances of their respective homes from Araglin National School I will have the matter investigated.
