Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Counterpart Fund.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state in relation to the Counterpart Fund arising under the American Loan (a) the total amount of this fund, (b) particulars as to its disposal and (c) the rate of interest, if any, which it is earning.

£8,600,000 has been paid into the American Loan Counterpart Fund, established pursuant to Section 4 of the Central Fund Act, 1949, and has been invested, as to £8,500,000, in Ways and Means Advances to the Exchequer earning interest at 1½ per cent. per annum and, as to £100,000, in State-guaranteed mortgage stock of the Agricultural Credit Corporation, Limited, earning interest at 3 per cent. per annum.
