Vol. 121 No. 11

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Cape Clear Island Scheme.

Mr. Murphy

asked the Minister for Local Government whether he is aware that a scheme under the Local Authorities (Works) Act, 1949, viz., No. 45X Grade B. on Cape Clear Island, Baltimore, County Cork, has been submitted by the Cork County Council to his Department for sanction; and, if so, whether he will make arrangements to have it approved.

I am advised that the scheme would benefit only one owner and improve about five acres of arable land, at a cost of £150. As regard must be had to the extent of the public benefit likely to be afforded by the works in respect of which grants are allocated, I am unable to allocate a grant in respect of this scheme.
