Vol. 121 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Department of Defence Labourers' Wages.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that labourers employed by his Department with the Supply and Transport Corps in Clancy Barracks are in receipt of only £4 11s. per week, a rate which is far below that paid to building labourers; and if so, whether he will favourably consider granting to the workers concerned at least the rate paid to pioneers, which is £5 5s. per week.

I am aware that the labourers employed with the Supply and Transport Corps in Clancy Barracks are in receipt of wages at the rate of £4 11s. per week. The matter is, however, at present under consideration in my Department.
