Vol. 121 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Milk Production.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether, in view of the prevailing scarcity of milk in West Donegal, particularly in Arranmore Island, he will consider improving the milk-yielding stock by the introduction of Kerry cattle to the area.

I am aware that there are periodic shortages of milk in parts of West Donegal and, with a view to improving the supply position, I have been considering a scheme for the introduction of Kerry cattle, in certain selected areas where the shortage is most acute, and where enterprising farmers may be found willing to help in the experiment.

While I appreciate that it may take some time to consider the matter, I would remind the Minister of the truth of the proverbs Bis dat qui cito dat.

I venture to suggest to the Deputy that he has particularly good reason for knowing that the cito will rise in this case.
