Vol. 121 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Crosshaven Bus Stop.

asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that the bus stop at Fort Camden, Crosshaven, County Cork, is situated in a very exposed position and having regard to the fact that the service is largely used by children of Army personnel, whether he is prepared to have a shelter erected near the bus stop.

As the erection of a shelter near the bus stop at Fort Camden is not a matter for my Department, I regret that I cannot take the action suggested by the Deputy.

Will the Minister consider the following facts: (a) this particular bus route was started for and is solely used by Army personnel, their wives and children; (b) there is no land available to Córas Iompair Éireann should they agree to put a shelter there since all the land in the vicinity is in the possession of the Department of Defence; and (c) the children of the Army men living around Fort Camden are very often waiting for a bus for a considerable time when going to school?

If the only difficulty is ground accommodation for a bus shelter the Army authorities will be prepared to meet Córas Iompair Éireann, or the Deputy, on that point.
