Vol. 121 No. 15

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tenancy of County Cork Dispensary.

asked the Minister for Health whether he is aware that Ballyhooly dispensary, County Cork, is occupied by a single man who is manager of Fermoy Employment Exchange and if he will state (a) the weekly or yearly rent paid by the tenant, and (b) the conditions of his tenancy, and if he will have immediate steps taken to obtain vacant possession of the dispensary house for the purpose of housing the new midwife who will be appointed there.

I am aware that portion of the Ballyhooly dispensary premises, County Cork, was sublet by the local authority in 1940 to the medical officer of the dispensary district and I understand that since that date they have been occupied by close relatives of that officer.

The only information I have in regard to the terms of the tenancy is that the weekly rent is 1/-. I have no information as to the marital condition of the present occupant.

I understand that for some time past the local authority have been endeavouring to secure possession of the portion of the premises which is sublet and that their efforts in this direction are continuing. I have no power to intervene.

No proposal from the local authority for the appointment of an additional midwife has been received in my Department.
