Vol. 122 No. 1

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Electricity Supply Board Workers' Pensions.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state why increases of pensions have not been granted to the Electricity Supply Board pensioners who were transferred from the Dublin Corporation by the Electricity (Supply) Act, 1927.

I am informed by the Electricity Supply Board that arrangements have been made for the early payment of the increases authorised by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1950, to such of the board's pensioners as are covered by that Act and who were transferred from the Dublin Corporation under the Electricity Supply Act, 1927. Consideration is being given to the position of those of the board's pensioners whose pensions do not include a portion calculated by reference to it cost-of-living index figure or figures, but who have been in receipt of pensions of an amount fixed at the time of retirement. This category which includes persons who were transferred from the Dublin Corporation is not covered by the Pensions (Increase) Act, 1950.
