Vol. 122 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Compulsory Tillage Regulations.

asked the Minister for Lands if, in regard to landowners who were prosecuted during the emergency period for failure to comply with the compulsory tillage regulations, he will request the Land Commission to acquire such portions of the lands of these people as are suitable and required for the relief of congestion.

The decision as to whether any particular lands should be acquired or resumed by the Land Commission depends on their suitability for Land Commission purposes and whether they come within the scope of the powers of acquisition conferred under the Land Acts. User of the lands prior to and at the time of the initiation of proceedings is one of the deciding factors in land acquisition and resumption.
